Two days ago, I was on the way to get our kids from school when around thirty police cars and ambulances passed me with their lights and sirens screaming! All of these emergency vehicles were responding to the latest stabbing in a string of terrorist attacks that have become a daily occurrence here in Jerusalem.
The current round of violence started several weeks ago with rioting at the Temple Mount and Al Aqsa Mosque. Unrest quickly spread across the West Bank and into several Israeli cities.
Yesterday morning, two terrorists boarded a city buss in Jerusalem and proceeded to shoot several passengers. Along with the buss attack, a third terrorist rammed his car into a group of people who were waiting at a bus stop in another neighborhood. He then jumped out of the car and stabbed several more people before being shot by an armed civilian. After the attacks, we received a call informing us that our kid’s school would be on lockdown due to the security situation in the city. Yesterday was a long day; we experienced a sense of peace in the evening after the whole family made it home.
Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting yesterday afternoon to address:
the situation and implement new security measures. The city of Jerusalem now has several thousand police and military personnel patrolling the streets. There is also some talk about installing security checkpoints between East and West Jerusalem as terrorists from East Jerusalem have been involved in most of the recent attacks.
We will continue to keep you updated on unfolding events. Pleas keep our family in your prayers, and continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the rest of Israel! Pleas pray that God will expose every plan of the enemy and bring deceitful hidden agendas into the light. Pray that demonic forces behind this violence would be sealed up and their power stripped from them. Pray for a release of supernatural strategy over our leaders to bring peace. Pray that the international community will experience a quickening to the truth surrounding current events in Israel. Pray that God would make his ways known to us and pour out his presence in times of trouble.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty-He is the King of glory. (Psalm 24:8-10)
